Battler Beat has confirmed that the Alderson Broaddus men's basketball team will open the 2018-19 season by hosting the G-MAC/GLIAC crossover event. The Battlers will face Grand Valley State on Saturday, November 10th at noon. The game will take place at Rex Pyles Arena on the campus of Alderson Broaddus University. The game will represent a pivotal midwest in-region game.
Grand Valley State finished this past season with an overall record of 14-15 and a 9-11 mark in the
GLIAC. The Lakers return their top two scorers and top two rebounders from last season. GVSU will be led by 6-2 junior guard Hunter Hale who averaged 13 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game last season. The Lakers also return 6-6 sophomore Jake Van Tubbergen who averaged 11.4 points per game and 6.6 rebounds per game. GVSU also return their fourth and sixth leading scorer from last season in 6-3 Ben Lubitz (9 ppg/4.3 rpg) and 6-5 Zach West (6.8 ppg/5.3 rpg). ABU will also host the second game of the crossover event.
