Battlers Renew Series with Rival WV Wesleyan
For a lot of long-standing Alderson Broaddus basketball fans, today's news should bring a smile to any Battler fan. After a few years off, the ABU men's basketball team will be starting up a series with the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats. The game will take place on Tuesday, December 12th at Rex Pyles Arena which has been host to several great games between the two teams. The two school are separated by 22 miles of U.S. Route 119 pavement. Battler Beat tips their cap to both schools for coming together to renew this rivalry which goes back before the WVIAC was created. Broaddus College, Alderson Academy and WV Wesleyan were charter members of the WVIAC. Members from each of the three institutions were at the 1924 meeting at the Waldo Hotel in Clarksburg that led to the formation of the league.
