ABU Signs One of the Top JUCO Rebounders Vincent Smalls

The Alderson Broaddus Men's Basketball program inked one of the top junior college rebounders this past weekend in Vincent Smalls of Cuyahoga Community College in Ohio. Smalls posted averages of 10 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game during his sophomore season at Cuyahoga CC. The 6'5" wing/forward was productive throughout the season for Cuyahoga producing 11 games of double-doubles in point and rebounds. His production helped lead Cuyahoga CC to an impressive 21-9 record on the season.

Vincent Smalls is a native of Philadelphia, PA where he attended Pennwood HS. Smalls will have two years of eligibility at Alderson Broaddus. He is the third signee of the 2020 Battler class. We have linked Vincent's sophomore season highlight video below:

Battlers Get Commitment from Jadakis Mack of Lima HS (OH)

Alderson Broaddus University has received a commitment from 6'3" guard Jadakis Mack out of Lima Senior HS in Ohio. Mack played on a Lima squad this past season that posted a record of 24-3 and made it to the OHSSA state basketball tournament earning a first round win over Start HS. Jadakis averaged 12 points per game, 6 rebounds per game, 3.2 steals per game and 4 assists per game as a senior according to Lima head coach Quincey Simpson. Mack played with some talent that distributed the scoring on the successful Lima team. One of his teammates signed to play basketball with D-1 Bowling Green. Another teammate signed to play basketball at Pikeville while another teammate signed to play football at Grand Valley State.

Jadakis Mack brings immediate help to the Battler backcourt. Video of Mack shows that he can break a defender down off the dribble or shoot the ball from the outside. For the season, Mack shot over 50% from beyond the arc. He is an athletic guard that has one of the best explosive verticals for a Battler recruit. ABU signs Braxton County HS Jadyn Stewart


The Alderson Broaddus men's basketball program has signed 6'0" guard Jadyn Stewart from Braxton County HS in West Virginia. Stewart averaged 21.7 points per game, 4.3 rebounds and 3 assists during his senior season for the Eagles. For his efforts, Jadyn was voted the 2019-20 Little Kanawha Conference's Player of the Year for helping to lead his squad to a 17-7 record.  Stewart had some impressive performances his senior year for the high school located in Sutton, WV. He dropped 50 points in a sectional win over Herbert Hoover HS back in March. Stewart also scored 38 points in a 94-88 win over the defending West Virginia Class A state champion Webster County. Jadyn was named by the sports writers to the West Virginia Class AA All-State 2nd team.


ABU signs 6'4" Jalen Martin from Jackson College in Michigan

The Alderson Broaddus men's basketball team has signed 6'4" guard/forward Jalen Martin from Jackson College in Michigan. Martin will have two years of eligibility with the Battlers. He averaged 11.6 points per game and 5 rebounds per game this past season for the Jets which compete at the junior college level. Jalen scored in double-figures in 16 games this past season.  He had a season-best 31 points against Mid Michigan where he was 12 of 16 from the floor including 6 of 8 from beyond the arc. Martin is a native of Chicago, Illinois where he attended Thornwood High School.

As you can see, Jalen is a swing player that can shoot the ball from the outside but is excellent at taking his defender off the dribble and finishing around the basket. He also demonstrates good court vision as a passer in the half-court set as well as off the dribble.
